someone at the anti carceral suicide training talked about how in order to be a therapist who actually supports your clients you have to be comfortable with breaking the law. Also, how important it is for therapists to understand that despite their individual values and the benefit they bring their clients, the whole system of psychiatry and therapy is entwined with incarceration, racism, and capitalism. And to actually confront that, therapists need to commit to breaking mandatory reporting laws and not incarcerate any of their clients.

And I’ve just been thinking about this all day, and how a lot of times therapy is presented as a neutral or inherently beneficial system when in truth it is often a system of violence. it’s been very powerful for me to be in these spaces with mental healthcare providers who are doing the work to figure out how to radically change the system.

I'm not about to argue the finer points of Southern culture with anyone, because I can accept that I was born and raised in the hot flames of a dumpster fire, but I'll tell you gotdamned commie Yankees one thing: I'd rather be dead in the hallowed halls of a Cook Out than alive in an In-N-Out

I can’t figure out what’s “wrong” or “horrifying” about this menu.

There are exactly 2 things which are specifically Southern (as in the southeast region of the contiguous 48 states of the US), and those are the “hushpuppies” (bits of fried cornmeal dough) and the “cheerwine” (cherry soda from a small-scale soda manufacturer; think regional microbrew for beers but non-alcoholic).

Absolutely nothing else on this menu is even slightly dubious if you’re familiar with, oh, restaurants in America in general.  Sure, there are a few things on the menu from the Southwest (quesadilla is mentioned twice, lol), and they call their milkshakes “fancy shake” (charging $1 extra for one of those), and their tea isn’t listed as hot or iced--though it’s probably iced and probably pre-sweetened, which for me would be awful--but I wouldn’t call those “horrific” either...

I'm also trying to figure out what on this menu is "horrifying".

A sad day for Silly Bitches across the globe.

Listen, at this point I’m genuinely curious. I’ve successfully posted a lot of 3D text gifs on Threads since this one. But this new gif is failing to post. I don’t know if it’s the similar colors or the word silly. The investigation continues. . .

Nvm, it's a third worse thing. The machine has learned that ANY image where pink is moving in this way will not be posted... sheesh.
